Job Summary

As a Truck Driver Distribution supporting ground operations, you will be responsible for safely operating various wheeled vehicles and equipment across diverse terrains to support logistics and training missions. You will transport materials, personnel, and equipment between facilities, conduct vehicle inspections and minor repairs, and ensure cargo is secured against damage or theft. This role requires knowledge of military vehicle operations, including handling hazardous materials, convoy participation, and vehicle recovery procedures. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate wheeled vehicles and equipment over varied terrain and roadways
  • Transport materials, equipment, and personnel between warehouses, training areas, and other facilities
  • Secure cargo against weather, pilferage, and damage
  • Load and unload vehicles with or without assistance; tie down cargo to prevent shifting
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and maintain vehicles in good working order
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) as required
  • Use radios for communication and perform vehicle self-recovery and towing operations
  • Report vehicle deficiencies and support mechanics as needed
  • Organize and participate in convoys
  • Dispatch vehicles and verify logbooks
  • Receive and fulfill motor support requests from authorized personnel
  • Compile time, mileage, and load data for reporting
  • Operate specialized vehicles such as HEMTT, HET, and PLS
  • Maintain certifications for CDL, Ammo Awareness, and Hazardous Materials Transport
  • Work flexible shifts, travel as needed
  • Operate in extreme weather conditions
  • Safely navigate maintenance environments
  • Perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, squatting, and walking for extended periods

***Candidate must have the ability to work flexible shifts and travel on Fort Hood and Training Sites**

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating military or commercial wheeled vehicles
  • Possess a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate classification
  • Completion of Ammo Awareness and Hazardous Materials Transport Certification
  • Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • Familiarity with vehicle self-recovery and field expedient towing procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physically capable of sitting, standing, squatting, walking, and talking for extended periods
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and noisy environments
  • Prior military experience in transportation or logistics (e.g., MOS 88M or equivalent)
  • Experience operating specialized vehicles such as HEMTT, HET, and PLS
  • Knowledge of Army motor pool operations, dispatch procedures, and logbook verification
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and convoy operations
